Bilimbi Averrhoa bilimbi a.k.a. Cucumber Tree, Pickle Fruit, Belimbing Family: Oxalidaceae Cucumber Tree         The Bilimbi is cultivated in parts of southeast Asia, also in many other places in the Tropics. The Bilimbi grows semi-wild throughout southeast Asia. A medium to large tree that may reach a height of 60 feet, but more commonly is 15 to 30 feet.
You are bidding on 12 fresh seeds collected and grown in Hawaii.	The Bilimbi mature fruits resemble small cucumbers. Fruits of the Bilimbi have a crunchy but watery flesh, very similar to the star fruit. Usually fruits are from 2 to 3 inches in length. They have a smooth thin, green rind sometimes faintly five-angled, and an acid pulp in which are imbedded several small seeds.
photo of young Bilimbi plant	Flowers bloom from the trunk, often in great number toward the bottom of the tree. Fruits follow, and a single Bilimbi tree often produces hundreds and hundreds of fruits. This Carambola relative produces very small pickle-like fruits, although the flesh is much more acidic. The Bilimbi has multi-lobed, oblong fruit with a pale green waxy skin which are borne directly on the trunk of the tree and also on the branches. The fruits are preceded by small red flowers on the trunk and branches.           The Bilimbi prefers a tropical environment, and generally needs year-round water. Hardy to 32F. Generally not as cold hardy as the star fruit. Keep humidity relatively high for good health.
Delicate oval leaflets make the Bilimbi very useful as an indoor ornamental that would require warmth and bright light. Pruned to size, Bilimbi makes an interesting and unusual bonsai.
	As with the Carambola, there is a sweet form of the Bilimbi, which lacks the acid taste. Fruits of the Bilimbi are candied or cooked with sugar as a preserve. The most common use for the fruits is a flavoring for prepared fish and meat dishes. Fruit pulp is also used to make a refreshing beverage and preserves. They are quite acidic and unlike the star fruit, so usually not eaten fresh out of hand.
The Cucumber Tree leaves are borne on leaflets often containing several dozen smaller leaf-pairs, which close together at night. The odd-pinnately compound leaves are large, containing up to 45 leaflets. The oblong-pointed leaflets are 12 to 14 inches in length and have short petioles.

Includes postage, USDA certification and inspection, proper packing and delivery to Airport for prompt delivery. I can’t really change any of these. If you want one of this and one of that, it gets hard to discount much as each different species requires it's own prep & packing, then at USDA each has to be unwrapped and inspected then repacked. USDA requires me to clean and prepare every last piece before we drive them to the Inspection Station on the other side of the island. It takes my wife and I, a day to pack items and get ready to ship. The whole next day we drive around the island and get inspected (2-3 hours), then drive to the Airport Post Office to drop off. It takes the same work with the same type item if you can understand.

LIVE PLANTS ARE PERISHABLE. For this reason uninsurable.         When you order a plant we assume you are prepared to care for it. Please have potting media and a container prepared for your plant before it arrives. Shipping can be stressful on a plant, and any mistakes that you make upon arrival can stress the plant further, which is not good. Proper care is critical upon arrival. It is your responsibility to know how to care for the plant. Not every plant that I order through the mail survives, and I am aware of that and accept the risk when I order. This is the risk that you as the buyer accept, because there is no way to know what kind of conditions it will endure in the trip to your door. My responsibility ends when a live plant is delivered to your door. Live arrival is guaranteed, eternal survival is up to you.  Do NOT email me a week after potting your plant, and make a claim it arrived damaged. From delivery confirmation, you have only 48 hours from delivery confirmation to make any claim.	All claims need to be supported with Photos of the damaged plant(s) as packed/unpacked, the box if damaged, the packing materials and any documents. I am very reasonable and understanding, anything can happen to small plants in transit. The expense to send it to you is most of your payment. To send any replacement (s), I try to piggy back with your next order. Replacement is not an option for CUSTOMS SEIZURE.
