	Heliconia Bourgaeana Bracts are red, pink or crimson with black distal lip. Its stalk and main shoot is a deep purple.  Produces iridescent hot pink, open cupped flowers. One of Hawaii's finest! Height 6' to 10'. The inflorescence is erect and flowering all year. Musoid foliage. The bracts are from 6-17, red, pink and crimson ripening to purple with black distal lip. This species is by far the most spectacular Heliconia in Hawaiian gardens. Heliconia bourgaeana makes a fabulous addition to a tropical style garden. Pure deep red     inflorescence has a waxy, polished appearance, embedding deep yellow sepals.    Heliconia bourgaeana is an unusual species from the Veracruz region of Mexico.  It has large spectacular crimson to pink  blooms with fairly big banana like leaves. A very beautiful medium sized Heliconia which is not yet very common. It has been cultivated under various names.  In Hawaii it has been known as H. 'Rose', H. 'Rosa Bourgaeana', H.     'Virjon', H. 'Purple Bourgaeana' and H. 'Purple'.  In Costa Rica it is known as H. 'Panty Pink'. Growing 6' to 8' high in full sun to partial shade. Blooms throughout the year under tropical conditions. The idea is to keep the plants from dehydrating. Be careful if you decide to re-pot.  Re-potting voids any warranty. Plants are easily damaged with new/different mix. Use NO fertilizers (this may kill your plants).  Proper care is critical upon arrival. Live Plants are NOT GUARANTEED  to survive under your care.
