	Anthurium vittarifolium Anthurium Araceae (Arum family) Columbia              Anthurium 'Vittarifolium' is a spectacular Ariod species and a must have for any collector. This plant is a great exotic hanging basket plant.          Anthurium crystallinum 'Vittarifolium' has dark green velvet foliage in the shape of a belt. Each narrow strap leaf can be 3 inches wide to 8 feet long. The foliage has long dark velvety leaf. The flowers are small, green and produce large bright orange fruits on a thin spathe. Easy to grow, Anthurium 'Vittarifolium' makes an excellent indoor container plant.

Anthurium 'vittarifolium' is found in the tropical rainforests of northern-western South America. With dramatically cascading long, dark green, velvety thick leaves that feel like vinyl, Anthurium vittarifolium is a unusual aroid species. Anthurium vittarifolium lower leaf surfaces are emerald green. This rare species is unique by any standard. Although the flowers (spathe & spadix) could best be described as gaunt & homely, they are followed by long showy clusters of jewel-toned pink fruit. All parts of this plant are toxic. Growing in high to moderately low light, it likes average amounts of water, even leaning a bit toward the drought tolerant side.
Anthurium vittariifolium (vita-AR-E-EYE-fo-lee-um) is a strap leaf anthurium that can reach large proportions. The tree dwelling epiphyte can develop 7 to 10cm wide (3 to 4 inch) wide leaves that reportedly grow to 2.4 meters (8 feet) long making it one super-sized plant when fully grown. Anthurium vittariifolium appreciates filtered sunlight that is bright and requires excellent drainage in a soil mixture that stays damp but not soggy. A. vittariifolium is properly considered a part of Anthurium section Urospadix . Species in that section have short stems with short internodes and generally epunctate leaf blades which are typically much longer than broad leaf blades that are typically lanceolate (spear shaped).

Please have potting media and a container prepared for your plant before it arrives. Shipping can be stressful on a plant, and any mistakes that you make upon arrival can stress the plant further, which is not good. Proper care is critical upon arrival. It is your responsibility to know how to care for the plant. Not every plant that I order through the mail survives, and I am aware of that and accept the risk when I order. This is the risk that you as the buyer accept, because there is no way to know what kind of conditions it will endure in the trip to your door. My responsibility ends when a live plant is delivered to your door. Live arrival is guaranteed, eternal survival is up to you.  Do NOT email me a week after potting your plant, and make a claim it arrived damaged. From delivery confirmation, you have only 48 hours from delivery confirmation to make any claim.
