Cyrtostachys renda Lipstick Palm  Red Sealing Wax Palm Native to Malaysia, Borneo, and Sumatra Synonym:Cyrtostachys lakka The most beautiful palm in the world, Cyrtostachys renda is only hardy down to about 60F, and  prefers the tropics. Easy to see why it is called the Lipstick palm, very few other palms show this remarkable orange red color to the crownshaft and petioles. It is a suckering palm and makes a elegant clump of spectacular color. The sealing wax palm is one the most spectacular and colorful tropical palms. Cyrtostachys renda is a clustering palm that features an incredible  brilliant red crownshaft and petioles.
	Cyrtostachys renda is native to Malaysia, Borneo, and Sumatra where it grows in coastal peat swamps, sometimes reaching heights of over 30 feet. A slow growing species, it requires warm tropical temperatures and an abundance of moisture. it's dark green leaves make an excellent contrast on it's bright red crownshaft. Naturally clumping, however, these are recommended for indoors only or grown outside where temps stay above 60 degrees F.

This tropical species requires high temperatures and high humidity and may not survive temps below 40°F. Plant in light shade and provide plenty of water if you are in a tropical area. Cyrtostachys renda grows well in both full sun or part shade. Tricky to grow, the sealing wax palm needs high humidity, well-drained soil, and is not tolerant of drought or wind. As they naturally grow in swamps, they are highly tolerant of flooding and can be grown in standing water. Includes postage, USDA certification and inspection, proper packing and delivery to Airport for prompt delivery. I can’t really change any of these. If you want one of this and one of that, it gets hard to discount much as each different species requires it's own prep & packing, then at USDA each has to be unwrapped and inspected then repacked. USDA requires me to clean and prepare every last piece before we drive them to the Inspection Station on the other side of the island. It takes my wife and I, a day to pack items and get ready to ship. The whole next day we drive around the island and get inspected (2-3 hours), then drive to the Airport Post Office to drop off. It takes the same work with the same type item if you can understand.
