Thai Papaya ~GOLDEN~ cultivar (imported from Thailand) carica papaya ‘Golden Papaya’ is a self-fertile hybrid whose fruits often weigh  1-3 pounds. Smaller fruits are more  common for container grown plants. The oblong papaya is bright yellow, sweet and juicy when ripe. Rich in vitamins A, C and other nutrients, it  also contains papain, an enzyme that aids in the digestion of protein. Harvest the fruit when the skin yields slightly to the touch and changes  from yellow to gold. You’ll notice a sweet, delicious aroma when it’s fully ripe.

~Fruit of Angels~  Papaya plants produce flowers that are either male, female or  hermaphrodite. Male plants do not produce fruit. Female plants must be pollinated by either male or hermaphrodite flowers to produce  fruit. Hermaphrodites are self fruiting and the most desirable kind. The Papaya produce seedlings that are either female or  hermaphrodite but no males. This is a very easy plant to grow whether in the ground in frost free areas or pot grown in cold winter climates. The taste of tree  ripened papaya is so much better than what you find in the grocery store. Early, vigorous & high-yielding hybrid papaya variety that has a potential yield of up to 120,000 kg./ha  in a two year productive life cycle. One tree can produce 50 to 120 fruits with an average fruit weight of 1.5 to 2 kilos per fruit. Semi-dwarf height, begins to bear fruit at 50 to 80 cm height. Excellent fruit quality: thick, firm, red flesh, great tasting, aromatic and very sweet (13-14% sugar  content). Female plants produce short-oblong fruits while bisexual or hermaphrodites are elongated. Good shipper and  long shelf life. Early maturing: harvestable at 8 to 9 months from sowing.	~Golden~ Thai  Papaya     An early and productive fruiter, ‘Golden Papaya’ is an excellent papaya for southern gardens or as a  tropical container fruiting plant in the north. The dwarf tree starts to flower and set fruit during its second year when the plant reaches 4’  tall. It can fruit the first year, if grown in high light with an extended growing season. Tropical papaya is a fruit that used to be relatively unknown outside of the tropics, but today you can find it just  about any supermarket. Papaya fruit is loaded with nutrients so there is much to be gained if this fruit strikes your fancy. One serving has high fiber  and potassium, iron, calcium, plus the daily requirement of vitamin A and three days worth of vitamin C. Papaya contains antioxidants which can  protect from certain types of cancer, such as colon cancer, and is known to help with digestive problems. Papaya is eaten just like a melon. Shaped somewhat like a pear, papaya is very sweet but does not have a  high sugar content. Green papayas contain the most papain, which is an enzyme that is used to tenderize meat and help with inflammation in the  human body. Papaya has bright yellow to green mottled skin. When ripe, the outside skin will be more of a golden color. Other types of papayas turn pink or orange  inside when they are ripe. Do some  research before they arrive or seek experienced help.  Small plants  need protection from many things, wind, sun, dry-out. They  do well just in the garage or living room. They need good  light but not sunlight (full sun will burn small plants).  Small pots dry-out easily. Just sitting in a shallow tray of  water works well. The idea is to keep the plants from  dehydrating.  Be  careful if you decide to re-pot.  Re-potting voids any warranty. Plants are easily damaged  with new/different mix. Use NO fertilizers (this may kill  your plants). Proper care is critical upon arrival. Live Plants are NOT GUARANTEED  to survive under your care. DO NOT expect any live plant to  be GUARANTEED to remain alive. Plants are NOT GUARANTEED TO  SURVIVE after you begin Care!
