Hardiness:
USDA Zone 9b- 11: to -3.8 °C (25 °F)

Location: Lychees need full sun, but young trees must be protected from heat, frost and high winds.

Soil: The tree needs a well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. A soil pH between 5.5 and 7.5 is acceptable, but plants grow much better in soils with a pH at the low end of this range. Apply a thick layer of organic mulch to the soil after planting.

Irrigation: The lychee will not tolerate standing water, but requires very moist soil, so water the tree regularly when it is growing actively. The trees are very sensitive to damage from salts in the soil or in water. Rainwater or treated water should be used. They are sensitive to overfertilization; with too much fertilizer, the leaves will brown from the edges.

Fertilization: Young trees tend to grow slowly, and many gardeners tend to give them too much fertilizer in an attempt to push them along. Young trees should receive only light applications of a complete fertilizer. Mature trees are heavier feeders and should be fertilized regularly from spring to late summer. Use fertilizers formulated for acid-loving plants. Chelated iron and soil sulfur may be necessary in areas with alkaline soils.

Lychee fruits in Gorgeous Color

There is hardly a more attractive ornamental fruit tree than a well shaped, dark green lychee tree heavily laden with clusters of bright red fruits.

Large smooth skin, dark maroon fruits with medium size seeds, Kaimana Lychee is large heart-shaped fruit with 33% shriveled seed and very sweet and juicy. This Lychee tree is a large, vigorous, upright tree. At peak ripeness the Kaimana Lychee is truly delicious and in taste tests against other varieties consistently outranks all of the others.

Typically, Kaimana lychees in the northern hemisphere are ripe during the month of May and June. The season for Kaimana lychee in the southern hemisphere like in Australia or Brazil is late November.

Lychee Fruits

Lychee trees are vigorous growers with a hemispherical shape and upright, spreading habit of growth and wide crotch angles. The branches strong and grooved or ribbed. The leaves are medium green, flat and the edges are straight with an average of 6 leaves to a leaf stalk and new growth flushes are slightly reddish to light green.

Lychees require seasonal temperature variations for best flowering and fruiting, Warm, humid summers are best for flowering and fruit development, and a certain amount of winter chilling is necessary for flower bud development. Most varieties need between 100 and 200 hours of standard chilling (32° - 45° F). Cool winters with low rainfall are ideal for lychees. The trees become more hardy as they age. Mature trees have survived temperatures as low as 25° F when fully hardened off. Young trees may be killed by a light frost. Lychees can be successfully grown in frost-free coastal areas.

Combined Discounts Won Auctions

For 2-3 winning auctions, the combined discount is 10% of the total Shipping and Handling charges. For 4-7 winning auctions, the combined discount is 20% of the total Shipping and Handling charges. For 7+ winning auctions, the combined discount is 30% of the total Shipping and Handling charges.

As each order is packed and prepared separately you will pay the quoted S/H charges individually per item. If you buy the same species in that item it does calculate out the discount (i.e.: additional item $3.61). My stores' combined shipping is built in for same items rather than a varied selection. Includes postage, USDA certification and inspection, proper packing and delivery to Airport for prompt delivery. I can’t really change any of these. If you want one of this and one of that, it gets hard to discount much as each different species requires it's own prep & packing, then at USDA each has to be unwrapped and inspected then repacked. USDA requires me to clean and prepare every last piece before we drive them to the Inspection Station on the other side of the island. It takes my wife and I, a day to pack items and get ready to ship. The whole next day we drive around the island and get inspected (2-3 hours), then drive to the Airport Post Office to drop off. It takes the same work with the same type item if you can understand.
